Microsoft Hires Another Last Of Us 2 Dev For The New Xbox Studio
All these new hires join a team that’s already stacked with talent. The Initiative also hired Rockstar Games veteran Tom Shepherd, although among the other high-profile hirings include Red Dead Redemption 1 writer/designer Christian Cantamessa.
Microsoft’s new Xbox studio, The Initiative, has hired another programmer from The Last of Us studio Naughty Dog to work on the company’s very first game. Lauren Garcia, who had been the personality shading technical director on The Last of Us: Part II is presently working in The Initiative as a senior shader technologies developer.
Microsoft’s Santa Monica studio continues to improve its roster.
The Initiative was announced at E3 2018 included in Microsoft’s wider statement of new studios and acquisitions. Based in Santa Monica and near Naughty Dog’s offices, the company says its ambition is”about craft, producing story, innovating, and looking ahead to the upcoming big thing.” While the organization is owned by Microsoft, it claims to operate independently.
Garcia is the next Naughty Dog programmer to have joined The Initiative.
Even if we don’t know what The Initiative is working on, design director Drew Murray’s youthful daughter does. Murray recently let this small human play the match, and she noted that it’s gotten a lot better.
Garcia announced the news on Twitter, stating,”This is an amazing team working on something truly special.” The Initiative’s first match remains unannounced, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer has offered a tease that it could be a reboot of a traditional show.
